I got the most wicked sunburn on my scalp from driving around in a convertible for 2 days.. I am normally a safe hat person… but this time.. I wanted to feel the wind in my hair! I was also not very smart in the sunscreen department.. I was wearing sunscreen.. but I also thought.. why not use tanning oil.. and I burned.. anyplace that i put the oil was bright red and burning.. it felt like it was almost to the bone.. We had a really early morning to head to the airport to go to London.. and I wasn’t doing to well.. I would like to think it was heat stroke.. we took two more plane rides to London and we finally arrived in Earls Court at noon.. We had heard about these hotels called Easy hotels.. they are simple.. bed.. bathroom.. towel.. that’s it.. this room didn’t even have a window.. and before the trip we were thinking.. PERFECT! we are in London.. we will never be in our rooms.. lets do it.. and for 50 pounds a night.. why not.. This room however was tiny.. there wasn’t even room to put your suitcase down on the floor opened up.. you had to bring it up to the bed and open it up and have this dirty suitcase sitting there on your bed.. while bumping into each other.. at the end of the trip.. this was not a good thing.. we were tired and exhausted.. and the room was really stuffy.. and I woke up with small squinty eyes every morning
and dear Lord.. don’t even get me started on the bathroom.. it was tiny.. you showered almost over the toilet.. and had to take everything out because the spray was everywhere..
I was also introduces to Nandos chicken for the first time.. I quickly became addicted.. I was also happy to learn that there is apparently one in Abbotsford! We also had amazing Indian food at this great little Indian restaurant.. and best part of our London experience.. MAMMA MIA! I finally saw it live.. it was amazing.. I had tears in my eyes when they started the intro with all their loud orchestra instruments playing all the songs.. it was great.. I still have Abba songs stuck in my head.. there were 70 year old men dancing back and forth and all ages were there enjoying it.. It is definitely something I will never forget.. it summed up my Mamma Mia wedding/honeymoon experience..
It was hard to listen to the actor that played Sam Carmichael.. he was no Pierce Brosnan and I couldn’t quite let it slide ;) We were able to do lots of shopping in London.. that darn European H&M sucked me in and spit me out.. I love that store.. and than there was Top Shop.. We did not luck out in the rain department wherever we went.. within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel I was walking around in wet Toms.. I got over it as quick as I could.. and shopping really helped..
We flew home with Air Canada.. and it was the best flight experience I have ever had.. amazing movies.. food.. comfy seats.. new plane with a high roof.. it was great.. Papa picked us up at the airport and I felt like I was crawling out of my skin to see Olive.. I almost think its how people who adopt children feel.. having to wait.. and wait.. and almost there.. one more drive.. one more plane.. I couldn’t stand it.. we crept up my parents stairs and just said hi sweety.. and the look on her face was so confused.. big smiles and than tears.. and hugs.. almost as if she thought we were never coming home.. she wont let us out of her sight now.. Dust went to load up the car and she started crying this really sad cry.. it broke my heart.. She was great at my parents house for the two weeks though.. not a tear.. not a sadness.. just happy with all her grandparents.. We finally arrived home.. settled in a bit and went to sleep.. We were finally able to meet Little Quentin! I forgot what small little babies are like.. I cannot wait to see him again now that I am not so jet lagged and exhausted..
And now I am home.. and really excited to be home.. I want to cook and clean and organize and live in my home now.. no more wedding or honeymoon.. just enjoying a simple life with my little family.. well that is until I plan something else that’s big ;)
Home Sweet Home!
